Cranial Osteopathy at Natural Health Consultancy Complementary Therapy Clinic Crowthorne Berkshire | |
The art of cranial osteopathy lies in working with the body to achieve health and restore usual function through a treatment which appears imperceptible on the surface but underneath has profound influence on the well-being of the individual.
In babies – the small amounts of movement that exist in the skull allow the baby’s head to adapt to the forces of labour. Complications during birth may lead to distortion of the skull resulting in subtle changes in function such as feeding difficulties, colic, disturbed sleeping patterns.
In children and teenagers – problems may become apparent which may have arisen from earlier strains or as a result of knocks and trauma later on. Problems such as glue ear, recurrent nasal infections and developmental problems may be helped.
In adults – problems may arise in the same way. In addition, working practices, postural habit and trauma (physical or emotional) can all contribute to causing problems that can be accessed and helped by cranial osteopathy. These include migraine/headaches, musculoskeletal problems, chronic pain, repetitive strain problems, M.E. and postural problems.
