Hypnotherapy & NLP

Our Hypnotherapist, NLP Practitioner is:-
There are many forms of psychological therapy but Hypnotherapy is distinctive in that it attempts to address the client’s subconscious mind. It is a completely safe and relaxing way of changing behavioural patterns at a deep subconscious level, replacing negative and destructive behaviour with new positive beliefs and healthy habits. Because it works on such a deep level, the changes are very often permanent and are always empowering.
In practice, the Hypnotherapist often (but not exclusively) requires the client to be in a relaxed state, frequently enlists the power of the client’s own imagination and may utilise a wide range of techniques from story telling, metaphor or symbolism (judged to be meaningful to the individual client) to the use of direct suggestions for beneficial change.
Analytical techniques may also be employed in an attempt to uncover problems deemed to lie in a client’s past (referred to as the “there and then”) or therapy may concentrate more on a client’s current life and presenting problems (referred to as the “here and now”).
It is generally considered helpful if the client is personally motivated to change (rather than relying on the therapist’s efforts) although a belief in the possibility of beneficial change may be a sufficient starting point.
Hypnosis helps people with many different issues, particularly weight loss, self/esteem/self confidence building and breaking habits such as smoking, nail biting, overspending, however other illnesses such as asthma, psoriasis, hayfever, IBS panic attacks and psychosexual disorders respond well to treatment.
Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) is a set of tools and techniques to help you deal with unhelpful patterns of thought and behaviour (some you won’t even know you have) and to introduce new, positive and constructive ways to improve your life.
By breaking down the name you gain a greater understanding of what it is:
Neuro refers to the brain and nervous system
Linguistic is the verbal and non-verbal language used to communicate
Programming is the unique way you put all this together to create your behaviour.
You have one brain but two minds – the conscious and the unconscious. Many actions in our daily life are governed by the unconscious part of our mind, actions that we do automatically without questioning them. Riding a bicycle, driving a car, brushing our teeth, even how to make ourselves feel good and how to make ourselves feel bad are just some examples of what the unconscious part of our mind is controlling. These ‘programmes’ have the capacity for amazing consistency producing the same results over and over again. Some programmes will work well for you, whilst others may have undesirable results and be holding you back. NLP is used to change the programmes that are not working and create new ones that do and so help you gain back control of your life.
