VRT was originally developed by Lynn Booth, a qualified reflexologist, to help orthopaedic conditions; but has subsequently proven useful for many other conditions. Unlike traditional reflexology which focuses on treating the underside or plantar aspect of the foot, VRT is done using the standing, weight bearing dorsal aspect of the foot and sometimes is combined with working the hand.
The treatments are short and very specific and can either be used as a standalone treatment, or combined with a normal traditional reflexology session. In a small medically approved trial, over 60% of mobility problems experienced by the participants showed a marked improvement in six weeks.
Not only is it useful for treating orthopaedic or sports injuries, but also in the treatment of sub fertility, ME and stress. In the treatment of ME and post viral fatigue, VRT has been shown to be a powerful help in restoring energy levels, with relatively short treatments.
